UNITY MARCH AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH

Friday, June 04, 2010

Community Partners throughout Flint and Genesee County are working together on a “Safe Summer Campaign.”  One of the community events is scheduled on Saturday, June 26, 2010, from 11 am until 4 pm.  On this day, the community will come together and host a Unity March against Violence and Community ~ Family Fair. The event will begin and end at Berston Field House and the area of focus will be the neighborhood of Leith and Saginaw Street.  This March represents EVERYONE.  It is designed to remember the memory of those whose life has been lost to violence, and at the same time, unite people and groups from all backgrounds (race, sex, nationality, religion).  This unified effort would demonstrate support, teamwork, partnerships, and send a positive message of love, concern, and most importantly hope.

Our combined efforts will be inspired by a genuine desire to connect communities, rebuild relationships, and educate, provide people with appropriate resources and tools   which in turn, would enhance their lives and overall living conditions.  This quest is not a victory that can be obtained when families and communities are divided but rather a goal that can only be accomplished when we join together as ONE.

Unity March & Family Fair - Community Rally designed to bridge gaps and unify communities.  The event usually takes place in areas where the poverty, crime, and violence rates are high; the graduation and success rate is low; and unfortunately, where families struggle with an abundance of social and economic issues. This event educates families on community resources, engages community members to get involved, and unifies groups and agencies throughout the Flint community.  All services are absolutely free (health checks, community resources, direct services, food, clothes, gift cards from local grocery stores, personal items and so much more).  This is truly a family-oriented event that brings communities and families closer together.  Games, gifts, and hot food are also provided.

This March sends a strong message that there is POWER in numbers.  There will be Faith-based organizations, local businesses, City Leaders, residents, and so many more marching the streets of Flint with a common goal of uplifting, unifying, and strengthening families and communities. Vital resources and services are brought directly into the community and offered FREE of charge, in addition, resource bags and educational books are distributed which identifies resources and services that are available throughout Flint and Genesee County.

If you are able to volunteer, donate items, monetary donations or most importantly participate in this community event please email or call me directly at the following numbers:  churchwithoutwalls@yahoo.com or 810-610-6527.
